Culross Linlithgow Palace Falkland

Loch Rannoch in Perth and Kinross where the stone circle scenes are filmed.

Culross, the beautiful 16th Century town where time stands still. The location for the fictional village of Cranesmuir, you’ll find Claire’s herb garden here as well as many buildings that star in the show.

The quaint village of Falkland, which doubles as Inverness in 1946, includes locations for Mrs Baird’s Bed and Breakfast, Dalneigh Parish Church, and Campbell's Café amongst others.

Doune Castle, the location for Castle Leoch, home to the fictional Colum MacKenzie and the MacKenzie clan. See the famous backdrop where Claire mysteriously disappears through the standing stones.

Linlithgow Palace, the real birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots and location of prison scenes from the show.

Blackness Castle, an imposing 15th Century fortress which doubles as the setting for the Fort William headquarters of Black Jack Randall and the heart-wrenching scene of Jamie’s incarceration.
